Torico: Sushi, Noodle & Rice - Cihampelas Walk, Bandung

First, I was craving for potatoes. But, after seeing the visual display of a few dish in this restaurant located in Cihampelas Walk, Bandung named Torico, I decided to try the dish there—and not to mention, my craveness for potatoes had changed into Japanese dish. #waitho

For the menu, I only ordered two dish and each of them will be discussed below—from my point of view.

Fish Katsu D (Steam Rice, Dori Fish, Mini Salad, & Lemon Tea) IDR 23K
This dish is a special promo for celebrating The Independence Day of Indonesia called "Paket Kemerdekaan", and this promo only applies until August 31, 2018. My first impression about this dish is the taste will be as good as the presentation does. The katsus are crispy on the outside, and the fish is soft on the inside. The fish is easily melted on my tongue after biting it for the first time, and makes me wanted to eat the fish more and more. But unfortunately, I felt quite disappointed with the rice which is scantly soft and easy to chew. For the side dish, the salad, is quite good yet too much to dig in by a person. Also, there is a sambal sauce that unfortunately makes the dish lost its beauty of a japanese authentic dish. Though I am truly aware that this restaurant serves fusion japanese dish, for me sambal sauce is not a great option to enjoy a japanese authentic dish—I am 100% sure that most Indonesians readers will criticise at my opinion. For the ice lemon tea, though the taste is a quite sweet, surprisingly it fits my tongue.

Crunchy Salmon Mayo (8 pcs) IDR 28K
From the first time I saw this dish, the presentation is quite tempting, so it obviously makes me mouth-watering. The sushi rice itself is soft yet solid, so it can be easily picked up with chopsticks. But aside of the dish's name, I can barely taste the salmon. It is quite a shame since the salmon is actually the main star of the dish. Moreover, the sushi rolls are not perfectly sliced, so it is very obvious to find out which roll that has a bigger amount of rice/fillings, which roll that has the perfect amount of rice/fillings, and which roll that has not. Thankfully, I did not find out a single roll which had a small amount of rice and fillings. But from all of I have mentioned, I really love the crunchiness inside the sushi rolls after a single bite. It is a grand pleasure.

Overall, from each dish has a perfect portion to enjoy—and my stomach was automatically full of these two. Also, the price form each dish is affordable. And because of that, I will definitely come back here and try the other dish that I have not ordered before.

p.s.: by the way, in Indonesia, wherever or whenever you dig in, having a glass of hot/ice tea as beverage is a mandatory for most Indonesians. But for me, having a glass of hot/ice tea after digging in does not affect much for the body—in chemistry words, acid meets acid. So you must know what will happen next. An because of that, I would like having a glass of water after digging in rather than having a glass of hot/ice tea.
